Requirements for Membership of The Irish Association of Clinical Scientists

Full membership:

Applicants must:

Hold an honours degree (level 8 NFQ) or equivalent in a related field

And

Have at least 2 years post graduate experience working as a clinical scientist and be in a clinical scientist post at the time of application(i)

Associate membership

Applicants should:

Hold an honours degree (level 8 NFQ) or equivalent in a related field

And

Have less than 2 years post graduate experience working as a clinical scientist(i)

Or

Be working in a role that is on a pathway to becoming a clinical scientist (e.g. undertaking a training course, working as a Genetic Technologist)

Or

Hold an honours degree (level 8 NFQ) or equivalent in a related field

And

Be working in a role that is equivalent to clinical scientist but without the clinical scientist title(i)(ii)

(i)This experience must have been gained in a diagnostic lab and involve authoring at least 200 clinical interpreted reports per year
(ii)In this case applicants may be required to submit a portfolio of their work demonstrating competence as a clinical scientist.
